Doesn’t need to be brand name), but for some reason they went with Hammer Strength instead.Ĭompared to other gyms, the staff seems to have been hired mostly to look hip, but aren’t very strong. With the money they collect, equinox could definitely afford Eleiko or Rogue squat racks ( or any that doesn’t suck. In my case, it was very hard to set the safeties in a squat rack in a position that wasn’t either too high or too low, both of which are dangerous. I’m disappointed with equinox and I cancelled my membership. They rarely follow up to see if you are actually still a student. If you have an old student email address try to use that to get a student discount. If you’re joining one of their “sports clubs” than yeah, go for it. It’s easier for me to get there from the Bronx versus the locations in Manhattan. Then I moved to NY and joined the Scarsdale Equinox. Everything you needed and more was in that facility including a decent restaurant, smoothie bar, happy hours, spa, saunas and steam rooms, shopping, 2 floors of gyms, racquet courts, two pools, rooftop access, etc., etc. It was considered a “sports club” so it was pretty fancy. This was due to the fact that you have to pay the same amount in membership costs regardless of the Equinox that you are a member of. I was a member in DC for years, but after moving to NYC I cancelled mine.
